“Financial freedom is not about having more money. It’s about having enough to breathe again.”
When I first became financially free—earning multiple six figures in passive income—it didn’t feel like I thought it
would.
There were no fireworks, no champagne moments.
It felt like oxygen.
Like I could finally exhale and say, I’m going to be okay.
That freedom opened up space in my mind and soul.
Suddenly, I could ask: What do I really want to do with my life?
And that question changed everything.
1. The Real Feeling of Financial Freedom
When your investments start covering your expenses, something subtle—but powerful—happens.
It’s not about Ferraris or yachts.
It’s about peace.
You start to breathe differently.
You start to dream again.
For me, that moment wasn’t flashy.
It was quiet clarity.
I knew my bills were covered even if I didn’t work.
I could take risks, write more, travel more, and spend more time with my daughter.
Last year alone, I traveled six times internationally—India, Portugal, Alaska, and even Base Camp at Everest.
Each trip reminded me that wealth is best measured in time and experiences, not dollars.
And here’s the truth most people miss:
The goal isn’t just $100K a year in passive income.
The goal is to become the person who’s free to live life on purpose.
According to a 2023 Gallup poll, 70% of U.S. employees say they’re not engaged at work—they’re just going
through the motions.¹
Imagine what would happen if even half of those people were financially free enough to do what they were truly
called to do.
That’s not just wealth.
That’s awakening.
2. Money Is Freedom, But Purpose Is the Point
I like to ask people: If someone gave you a billion dollars, what would you do?
For about a month, you’d probably travel, buy the toys, and check off your bucket list.
But after that?
You’d start asking, What am I really here to do?
That’s the deeper work of financial freedom.
It’s not about never working again—it’s about choosing the work that matters.
When I wrote my book Fire Yourself, I realized I wasn’t chasing money anymore.
I was chasing meaning.
I started writing music again.
I got involved in community work.
And I saw the truth that authors like Viktor Frankl and Simon Sinek talk about: purpose is oxygen for the soul.
Without it, freedom can feel empty.
With it, every dollar becomes fuel for impact.
3. Get in the Right Room
Here’s something I’ve learned after years in finance: everyone is biased, especially in this business.
We all think our deals are the best.
That’s why being around other investors is so powerful.
That’s why I started The Wealth Forum, a private group for high-net-worth investors to connect, share insights, and
learn together.
When you get in a room with people playing the game at a higher level, your whole perspective shifts.
You start hearing things like:
“How I reduced my taxes to zero.”
“Which energy investments performed best this quarter.”
“Which operators to avoid.”
Those conversations are priceless.
And they’re hard to have anywhere else.
Most people worth $2–$4M have no one they can talk to about money.
Their family doesn’t get it.
Their friends think it’s weird.
But in the right room, those conversations are normal—and that’s where real growth happens.
There’s a quote that says, you’re the average of the five people you spend the most time with.
If you want to grow your wealth, health, or mindset, get around people who are 10x where you are.
Their habits will rub off on you.
So if your goal is $100K in passive income—or $1M—start by asking:
Who’s already doing it, and how can I get in that room?
Financial freedom isn’t about escaping work.
It’s about working on what you love, from a place of abundance instead of survival.
Take time this week to reflect: Am I getting the results I want in my life right now?
If not—what needs to change?
Because when your income covers your expenses, your mind opens to creation, generosity, and legacy.
And that’s when life really begins.
Now I want to hear from you.
What does your version of financial freedom look like?
