In my journey, I discovered it is possible for a high earning individual to reduce their taxes and eventually replace their work income with cashflow through alternative investments (outside of Wall Street). This is true financial freedom when you can scale your passive cashflow without limiting your time.
I bought my first rental house in 2006 and rented it out when I moved two years later. After refinancing and getting $400 a month in cash flow, I was amazed. Later, I started buying houses in Ohio and my plan was buy at least 30 homes, replace my income, and experience financial freedom.
I reconnected with a family member who owned many multifamily apartments who told me, “This seems like a lot of work! Also, everyone I know that has done multifamily wishes that they started sooner. Why don’t you just do multifamily?”
I told him I didn’t have the money. He said, “You can raise the money!”
This led to me starting a multifamily meetup group in the city where I live (Pasadena, CA) and partnering with an experienced syndicator (one who raises money to buy apartment building or other assets) and I contributed with some of the diligence and raising capital. Being a multifamily syndicator is something I am proud of and I love helping others start investing in this asset class.
