The Secret Trait of the Wealthiest People

“Humility is not thinking less of yourself, but thinking of yourself less.”

— C.S. Lewis

I talk a lot about wealthy people’s habits.

After over 2,500 interviews with millionaires, I’ve learned a lot.

Some of these people are larger than life.

They’re super smart.

But what is their best quality?

What helps them in their success?

Would you believe that the best quality they have is humility?

Humility requires you to let go of your ego.

When you let go of your ego, you open yourself up to so many opportunities.

Today, we’re going to talk about humility, why it’s a great trait to have, and why it’s not talked about a lot.

Let’s go!

1. The Humility to Keep Learning

If you think you know everything, you’ll never learn anything new.

To some people, that might sound pretty great.

It’s actually a huge weakness.

You should want to learn more.

You’ll never get to the next level unless you’re open to what someone else has to say.

We can learn from anyone.

There’s an old story that the founder of Judo asked to be buried in a white belt to symbolize that he would be a learner even in death.

Socrates created the Socratic method in his teaching, which involved asking constant questions.

The importance of constant learning cannot be overstated.

When you continue learning, you can also improve your performance and stay competitive, creative, and innovative.1

2. Humility Builds Stronger Teams

If you’re a passive investor, you may be wondering:

Why do I need to have a strong team?

When you’re a passive investor, you typically don’t invest on your own.

You’ll have an operator, a tax person, and an attorney.

Ideally, you’ll also be surrounded by friends bringing you deals and a supportive family.

Having a team is a powerful tool.

It allows you to collaborate and get better.

Having an ego doesn’t jive well with having a good team.

Have you ever played basketball with someone who wouldn’t share the ball?

That’s not a fun place to be.

Ego is the enemy.

When you have a strong ego, you can’t connect as well with others.

Wealthy people find ways to be humble.

With a humble attitude, you can go a long way.

Having a modest outlook on yourself can even lead to positive outcomes in your interpersonal relationships.2

But back to investing – let’s look at an example of how being humble can help you:

When you face a challenge, what do you do?

Do you blame other people?

If so, you absolutely shouldn’t.

You should take every challenge as a learning opportunity.

Ask yourself: What can I learn from this experience?

No matter who or what is to blame, when you ask those kinds of questions, you can turn every negative experience into a positive one.

You might even find yourself being grateful for them.

Applying what you’ve learned, you can prevent those same mistakes from happening again.

3. The Power of Gratitude in Sustained Success

If I’m humble, I need to be grateful.

I need to be a reverent person.

I need to appreciate what I have.

You can be grateful for material things, nature, health, family…

Whatever works for you!

Humility helps you achieve this mindset of gratitude.

It helps you not take anything for granted.

At any time, you could lose your health, your wealth, your relationships.

Sometimes, we don’t realize what we have until it’s threatened or taken away.

I hope you live a life of gratitude.

And if you even need motivation, Robert Kiyosaki has gone bankrupt multiple times.

Now, he’s one of the most successful investors out there!

People can have major losses, but they learn from those losses.

If you learn that same mindset and have humility, you’ll be set up for success.

Now I want to hear from you!
